The Calls We Answer Most Often

AC repair and heating repair make up the bulk of our calls. Here's how we handle both.

Air conditioning repair

When your AC goes out in the middle of a Highland summer, you need someone who can get there fast and tell you exactly what's wrong. That's where we start. We check your thermostat and breaker first, then move to the capacitor, contactor, refrigerant pressures, and airflow. In the Inland Empire, most air conditioning repair calls come from heat-stressed capacitors, dirty coils, low refrigerant, or clogged drain lines. We'll show you what failed, why it failed, and whether a repair makes sense or if it's time to talk about a replacement.

A typical air conditioning repair visit starts with a $75 residential diagnostic. We test pressures, temperatures, and electrical components before we recommend anything. Our techs carry common parts for fast fixes, and if your system needs a part we don't have on the truck, we'll tell you upfront before ordering it. Most repairs are wrapped up in a single visit, and we leave your home clean and your system running better than we found it.

Furnace repair

Heating problems never wait for a convenient time. We treat every no-heat call seriously, whether it's a furnace that won't light, a blower that won't stop, or rooms that just won't warm up. Our furnace repair checks start with the thermostat, ignitor or pilot, flame sensor, gas valve, and airflow. Around Highland and nearby cities, we see a lot of dirty flame sensors, worn ignitors, and cracked heat exchangers on older furnaces. We'll explain what we found, fix what's safe to fix, and be honest if a furnace replacement is the smarter long-term choice.

Furnace repair is about safety as much as comfort. If we find a cracked heat exchanger or a carbon monoxide risk, we will stop the job and walk you through your options before doing anything else. For standard repairs, we replace the failing part, test every safety switch, and confirm your system is cycling cleanly before we leave. We also inspect your filter and duct connections, because a lot of heating issues are actually airflow problems in disguise.

About Us

Meet John Beech & the Highland Team.

Owner John Beech started this company in 2025 for a simple reason. He was tired of watching homeowners in Highland get sold equipment they didn't need. So he built a small, family-run HVAC shop where the tech who answers your questions is the same person turning the wrench.

We work on heating and air conditioning all day, every day. System installs, maintenance, upgrades, and emergency repairs for both homes and businesses. Because we stay focused on one trade, our trucks carry the parts that actually fail out here, like capacitors, contactors, ignitors, and flame sensors.

Our word is the whole business. We show you the failed part, tell you what it costs before we start, and say so plainly when a repair is the smarter move than a new system. That's how we'd want someone to treat our own family.

Service Area

Proudly serving the Inland Empire.

Highland is home base, and we run calls all over San Bernardino County every week. Don't see your city? Give us a call and we'll tell you straight.

Frequently Asked Questions

Highland, San Bernardino, and Redlands are usually a same-day visit when you call in the morning, since that's the loop our trucks already run. Colton, Loma Linda, Grand Terrace, Rialto, Fontana, Mentone, Yucaipa, Calimesa, and Riverside are typically same day or first thing the next morning. During a 105-degree August week, calls stack up fast, so the earlier you reach us at (909) 890-6954, the better your window.

We start at the thermostat and breaker, because a surprising number of no-cool calls end right there. Next is the capacitor and contactor, which are the parts our Inland Empire heat kills most often. Then we read refrigerant pressures, check the coil for dust buildup, and confirm the condensate drain isn't clogged. You'll see the failed part in our hand before you see a price.

Two reasons: heat and dust. Systems here run hard from May through October, and that constant load cooks capacitors and wears out compressors years earlier than in a mild climate. Then the wind coming down off the San Bernardino mountains packs grit into outdoor coils and filters, which chokes airflow and makes the whole system work harder. Regular coil cleaning is the single cheapest thing you can do out here.

The diagnostic is $75 for a home and $125 for a commercial building, and that covers a full inspection plus a written price for the fix. A residential AC tune-up is $100. Nothing gets repaired until you approve the number, and we don't charge extra for nights, weekends, or holidays.

Yes, and we'll tell you when not to. If your unit is under about 10 years old and the repair is a capacitor, contactor, ignitor, or flame sensor, fixing it is almost always the right call. When we find a failed compressor or a cracked heat exchanger on an aging system, we'll lay out both numbers side by side and let you decide. Highland Heating & Air doesn't work on commission, so nobody here has a reason to talk you into a new system.

Shoe covers go on at the door, drop cloths go down under the equipment, and we tape off the path to your attic or closet before hauling anything through. Old parts and packaging leave with us. If you've got dogs or a gate that has to stay shut, tell us when we arrive and we'll work around it.
